Records, Great Catch, and Victory for Team Orca
The 17th edition of the international Big Om competition in Omišalj on the island of Krk brought together a record-breaking 150 competitors in 35 teams, confirming the status of this three-day event as the longest-running and most attended big game fishing tournament in Croatia.
The winner of Big Om 2022 was Team Orca, led by captain Pavo Cindrić, who caught the biggest tuna of the competition. Exciting weigh-ins held in the evening hours on the renovated Ivan Pavao II waterfront drew numerous visitors and sea enthusiasts.
Thanks to a special fishing quota of 1,020 kg, most teams were able to bring their catch ashore, adding extra dynamism and appeal to the competition.
Big Om is not just a tournament — it’s an event that promotes Omišalj, extends the tourist season, and gathers anglers from Croatia, Slovenia, and neighboring countries.
